Redis Cluster for

Redis Streams

Durable append-only streams (stored as keys). Support consumer groups, message acknowledgement (XACK) and re-delivery (at-least-once semantics). Good for queues, event sourcing and reliable processing.

Redis Pub Sub

Ephemeral publish/subscribe messaging: low-latency fan-out but no persistence, acknowledgements or replay (fire-and-forget).

Redis Sentinel

High availability using read replicas and promotes one to master on failover.

• Sentinels monitor and elect a new master.
• They provide discovery info to clients (clients must support Sentinel or re-resolve the master)
  • Provides discovery so clients can find the current master; it coordinates, it does not proxy traffic.

Redis Cluster

Native sharding across multiple nodes (hash slots) with optional replicas per primary. Enables horizontal scaling and some fault tolerance; clients handle redirects when keys live on other nodes.

• Lookups to any Redis instance will point the requesting service to the correct Redis instance that contains said key
• Redis Cluster also supports replicas per primary for HA. (sentinels are not used with cluster)
