No embarking possibility

Okay, so I started a game with the Unciv IV Mod, on Continents, which means relatively large islands. Problem is, no matter how advanced I get, I cannot embark my units anyway, because there's no tech for that.

Could you please elaborate possibly? For the life of me, I can't figure out how to do it. Perhaps, some options are missing in the Android version of the game? (I am playing on Android).

I have a land unit selected and standing on a tile near coast. The ship (Galleon) is on a neighboring coast tile. If I tap on the Galleon, it just is selected (naturally). Long press has no effect. Trying to move them to the same coastal city is impossible: if I have one of them outside the city and the other within (no matter which is which) and tap on a city, then there is no option to move the unit to the city, I can only select the unit that is inside.

Am I missing something?

I'm unsure if transporting units as cargo works as intended, yet. But Embarking should be good.

Embarking is working... in coast tiles. However, embarked units cannot go into ocean tiles, not only after researching Optics (the issue for naval units that I have created), but even after researching Astronomy! They can never go into ocean tiles, with the whole tech tree researched.

This makes intercontinental warfare impossible and thus Domination victory unachievable if you play on a huge map with several continents (and I'm not gonna play any other kind of map). Well, maybe you could nuke everything on other continents, I haven't tried that, since if you have nuke tech and enough resources to build that amount of nukes, then it's simpler to just go for Science victory.

This is further made easier by the fact that no other civ can invade your continent, so you can save resources on your military and divert them to science or culture. After destroying the opposition on your continent you don't even have to put efforts into turtling up: the game does it for you, since land units can't cross the ocean.

I was wondering why I never got visited by foreign military (so I didn't really save the resources by not building military, but now I can), and now it's clear why.
