How to fix this?

I have updated xcode tools to latest available version 16.3, but got no luck.

Hi! I think I solved the issue.
From my understanding, the problem is that bison is called in a way that does not allow it to load libiconv library. MacOS does not search for dynamic libraries unless the directory is specified in the env variable. For now, I was able to solve the issue by adding ${env:"DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/homebrew/opt/libiconv/lib"} to the bison_lex.conf file and installing libiconv from brew. Here is a bison_lex.conf.patch for anyone interested. After doing it, I was able to successfully build ya make using itself.

Is the bison tool built on MacOS compatible with lconv from /usr/lib?

I'm not MacOS user (and definetelly not MacOS expert) but searching through the internet and reading paths from the commnts makes me think that homebrew version of iconv might be GNU iconv implementation which expose symbols with different names (libiconv_open instead of iconv_open etc).

In the ideal world we shoud build bison in a way that makes it compatible with /usr/lib version of iconv. If GNU libiconv is unavoidable we should build our own bundled version and make bison use it being invoked as a build step.

So, I conclude that both iconv provided by ya and homebrew can work with bison built by ya.

But they are also not the same, looking at exported symbols:

Looks like it was successfully (?) compiled, but got scary warning (present in your logs too):

Warn[-WMacroUse]: in At top level: Bad modifier in config for: contrib/tools/bison; skip it.

Sadly, didn't see the warning. As long as DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH points to internal bison' directory, it should be fine. If you want to get rid of the warning, you can try replacing ${path:"contrib/tools/bison"} with just "contrib/tools/bison" in the patch. To do anything more specific and/or idiomatic, we need some input from the contributors, because ideally macro that returns directory of bison in .ya/build should be used, and the env variable should only be set on MacOS machines.
