  • Protocol-level integration tests: an in-process fake DLNA renderer (local HTTP + SOAP endpoints) drives the full control flow — device description parsing over HTTP, AVTransport/RenderingControl actions, seek/volume request building, response parsing, playMediaDirect sequencing, device-error handling and cache behavior (fetch, cache hit, interpolation only while PLAYING); the DLNACast facade is covered end to end (neutral defaults before init, lifecycle with a WifiManager-less context, fast-failure paths). Suite grows to 92 tests

  • Live playback state: DLNACast.getPlaybackState() queries the device via GetTransportInfo, so remote pauses/stops are reflected; getState() now reports the last observed transport state instead of always PLAYING while connected
  • CastOptions (#2): customize casting with subtitleUri (external subtitles, incl. Samsung sec:SubtitleUri), subtitleMimeType, mimeType and upnpClass overrides, or a full DIDL-Lite metadata override — available on cast(), castToDevice() and castLocalFile()

🐛 Fixed

  • Device discovery failures (#1): set SO_REUSEADDR before binding SSDP port 1900 (previously set after binding, which was ineffective) with an ephemeral-port fallback; run the SSDP response listener on a dedicated daemon thread started before M-SEARCH sends so no response is lost; read timeouts no longer terminate the listener loop
  • Multicast reception: acquire a WifiManager.MulticastLock during init() so the Wi-Fi stack does not filter SSDP multicast traffic
  • Re-initialization: cleanup()init() cycles now work — coroutine scopes are recreated and the cache manager rebinds to the current scope
  • Control URL: default port to 80 when the device location URL has no explicit port (was producing http://host:-1/...)
  • search() semantics: returns the complete device list after the timeout instead of resolving as soon as the first device responds
  • Progress interpolation: only advances while the transport state is PLAYING (previously any media with a known duration was treated as playing)
  • Cache isolation: switching devices drops all cached volume/progress state; casting new media on the same device resets the progress cache
  • Local file server: serve correct MIME types by file extension (some TVs reject application/octet-stream) and skip reliably to the requested Range offset (InputStream.skip may under-skip, corrupting seeked streams); bound the token registry (LRU, 64 entries) so repeated casts no longer leak entries

🔧 Changed

  • Internal architecture: the whole casting stack (coroutine scope, SSDP discovery, media controllers, caches) is now owned by a single CoreManager instance created in init() and released in cleanup() — the static/companion-object state, the global scope registry and the weak-reference controller registry are gone, so repeated cleanup()init() cycles can no longer leak or resurrect stale state
  • Native suspend internals: internal layers (CacheManager, LocalCastManager, progress/volume queries) are suspend-native; the suspendCancellableCoroutine callback adapters and callback-threading through the internals were removed. Public API signatures are unchanged
  • Typed errors for local casting: castLocalFile() now throws UPnPException.FileError / NetworkError / DeviceError raised at the failure source, instead of mapping message strings back to exception types after the fact
  • Not-initialized behavior: calling cast/control/query APIs before init() returns neutral defaults (false / null / IDLE / empty list) instead of silently auto-initializing; castLocalFile() throws UPnPException.UnknownError instead of hanging forever
  • DeviceDescriptionParser is now internal (was accidentally public)
  • Removed unused okhttp/gson dependencies
  • Removed phantom VideoSelectorActivity declaration from the library manifest

Note: This is the first stable release of UPnPCast as a modern replacement for the discontinued Cling project. The library has been extensively tested and is ready for production use.
