Transition from Retroactive to supported apps

Retroactive only receives limited support. You should transition from Retroactive to a wide range of supported apps, many of which are built into macOS or free to download.

If you currently use Aperture or iPhoto with Retroactive:

Switch to Photos.
Download Darktable or RawTherapee for free.
Purchase AfterShot Pro, Capture One Pro, or DxO PhotoLab.
Subscribe to Adobe Lightroom Classic, Adobe Lightroom, Darkroom, Luminar Neo, or Photomator.

If you currently use iTunes with Retroactive:

To access media, switch to Music (companion apps), TV, Podcasts, and Books.
To play and manage music, download Media Center for free, or purchase Swinsian.
To play and manage movies and TV shows, download Infuse, IINA, VLC, Elmedia, or Plex for free.
To play and discover podcasts, download Overcast, Moon FM, Podcast App, Castro, or Spotify for free.
To read and manage your books and audiobooks, download Kindle, Calibre, Audible, or OpenAudible for free.
To archive iPhone and iPad apps (.ipa), purchase iMazing, or download ipatool, Apple Configurator, or iTunes 12.6 for Windows (64-bit, 32-bit) with VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop.
To create custom ringtones, download GarageBand on your iPhone or iPad.
To play and discover internet radio, download Broadcasts for free.
To manage and sync your Apple devices, switch to Finder, purchase iMazing or Waltr Pro, or download iTunes for Windows, 3uTools, or Apple Devices with VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop.

If you currently use Final Cut Pro 7 with Retroactive, export your projects into XML, then:

To import your existing XML projects, download DaVinci Resolve for free, purchase SendToX and Final Cut Pro, or subscribe to Premiere Pro or Media Composer.
To start a new project, download DaVinci Resolve, Kdenlive, CapCut, VN, or 剪映专业版 (China mainland) for free, purchase DaVinci Resolve Studio, Final Cut Pro, or VEGAS Pro, or subscribe to Premiere Pro or Media Composer.

If you currently use iWork’09 with Retroactive:

Update to the latest version of Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
Download LibreOffice, FreeOffice, or WPS Office for free.
Use Microsoft 365, or Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides for free.
Subscribe to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

If you currently use Logic Pro 9 with Retroactive:

Upgrade to the latest version of Logic Pro.

If you currently use Xcode 11.7 with Retroactive:

Update to the latest version of Xcode.
