Commit pixi lock files? #848

@maxrjones

Description

@maxrjones

@chuckwondo raised the issue of whether we should commit the pixi lock files in #847 (comment)_. I added pixi.lock to .gitignore when transitioning to pixi because I wanted to make sure the CI was always using the latest releases and the upstream environment was always using the latest commit to main. I am open to revisiting that decision if there is a better way to balance reproducibility across CI and local environments, getting the latest changes in the CI, and minimizing noise in the repo (e.g., I wouldn't want dependabot to open PRs daily).
