Currently, Zen Browser blocks extensions (like Copy PlainText) from overriding the CTRL+C shortcut.
When trying to set CTRL+C as the clean copy shortcut, the extension shows:
“can’t override zen shortcut”
This means users can’t use CTRL+C for plain-text copying, which is essential for workflows that involve stripping formatting or unwanted spaces when copying from websites.
Extensions should be able to override the default CTRL+C shortcut if the user explicitly chooses to.
Alternatively, Zen should provide a setting in about:preferences to allow users to decide whether CTRL+C is handled by Zen or by extensions.
Zen blocks CTRL+C from being assigned, even when explicitly set in an extension.
No option is available in Settings → Shortcuts to adjust this behavior.
Users must use an alternative shortcut like CTRL+SHIFT+C and deleting some shortcuts from default Zen, which is less convenient and breaks existing workflows.
Please consider:
Allowing extensions to override CTRL+C when requested.
Or adding a toggle in Zen’s settings to let users choose between Zen handling vs extension handling for copy behavior.
This would greatly improve usability for people who rely on extensions like Copy PlainText, especially when working with text that contains unwanted spaces or formatting.
