Shortened URL

I've been working on this feature that shortens URL's so it only contains the root name and extension of the url, but I've realised that I can't push any of these changes because every change I've made has been in the engine folder (which is obviously not in the github). I would love to know where I should be editing the code, so I can add this feature.
