Feature Suggestion: Custom Title and Icon for Pinned and Essential Tabs

The ability to create custom titles and change icons for pinned and essential tabs would be a game-changer!

Throughout my day, I typically have three to four workspaces open, each filled with numerous pinned or essential tabs. These range from servers, virtual machines, and containers to various SaaS platforms I frequently access. While I love keeping them organized in my sidebar, the challenge arises when multiple pinned tabs share the same default global icon. This makes it difficult to quickly locate a specific server or VM, especially when the hover description character length is too short to display the full IP address. Even when services have their own favicons, multiple tabs from the same service often look identical, leading to further confusion.

Having the ability to assign unique titles and custom icons would make navigation far more efficient!

In my opinion a simple way to solve this, without having to make any additional graphics, would be to give the user the ability to replace the Favicon by an Emoji which Zen would get from the Operating System.

This way you could, for example, use a 📅 for the iCloud-Calender and an ✉️ for iCloud-Mail.
Or you could use a Numbered Emoji like 1️⃣ and 2️⃣ to tell something apart and you could go creative from there.

It would be a simple to implement solution, that requires no additional graphics or Favicon-Packs or anything really, the Emoji are already there and they get merrier every year or so.
And the best part is:
If there are any new ones that needs to be implemented the Operating System only has to implement them to work in Zen, Zen only needs to build it into the Browser once and the Users will profit with every new Emoji with more choice for Favicons.

Question is would that solution be sufficient for the majority of users, I can only speak for myself.

or you could even let the User chose up to two Emoji, this way if you have multiple redundant Servers, you could use for example:
✉️1️⃣ for Mail-VM one and ✉️2️⃣ for Mail-VM two, or 👤1️⃣ for AD-One and 👤2️⃣ for AD-Two.

For some reason I hadn't thought about emojis as an option. Thanks for bringing it up. I'll be working to incorporate them into my extension.

Some other thoughts:

• Favicons are square, so having two emojis would be pretty small with a non-trivial amount of dead space

• Regardless of the favicon content, it's still a pretty big ask to add a feature like this to a browser (especially a fork) since it requires adding a new database or at least some form of long-term storage as well as adding configuration to disable/ignore the favicons from sites

• It's not obvious what sort of grain this would be saved on; like if it's based on tab ID then it could be misleading when navigating to a different site (too sticky) or if it's based on a URL it would be applied to multiple tabs which may not be expected/welcomed by all users

• Zen's current emoji picker is pretty lacking in options

Sorry if my ideas dumb, im not webdev guy.
Pined/essential tabs already stored somehow, right? They also have a function to update currently pinned url. If they stored like json, we can add there emoji, and override with a function, return to default with "delete icon" and refreshing the page. Else css side.

Arc allows this (to an extent) and I definitely agree that Zen should at the very least add a pack of icons that could be used to replace the favicons of websites. This is badly need imho.

With the Atlassian Arc announcement yesterday, I used my lunch hour yesterday to find and install Zen, I have a feeling I'm not alone. Setting it up today and I wanted to share my vote on this one. I manage several Jira boards for different teams all going in essentials, if they all have the same icon then I'm stuck memorizing the location. I'll do it, but would love to be able to change the icon.
