I used to be an Edge user. In Edge, you could pin the downloads panel to the screen as a sidebar.
Firefox did not have this outside of a poorly-executed extension. With Zen, however, I could leverage the old web panels to basically fudge a sidebar by pointing the panel to about:downloads.
With the removal of the web panels feature, this workaround is no longer possible, thus I have proposed having Downloads exist as a separate sidebar option.
