MacOS, pressing escape causes full screen mode to exit, is it a bug?

It is really annoying that I can't keep my browser in full screen mode, and I didn't find anywhere to configure it. Is it configurable or a feature or a bug?

This isn't a bug—it's the default behavior in zen-browser (and most browsers on MacOS) for Escape to exit full screen mode. However, you can change this by setting browser.fullscreen.exit_on_escape to false, which will prevent Escape from exiting full screen.
