Option to go to last active tab when closing a tab

I think an option to go to the last open tab when you close an active tab instead of the one next one in the list would be very cool, expecially important for shortcut-heavy users. I use ctrl tab (with the option to go to last open tab) to go back and forth a lot and when I intuitively close a tab with ctrl w I'm expecting it to have the same behavior, except with the added benefit of closing the tab.

This is already possible with Cmd+9 as the shortcut key combo unless you are referring to something else?
