Can't see text in "find on page" field, ctrl+f search, white text on white background, linux mint

What happened?

I hope this isn't a dupe, I tried searching but didn't find anything..
It is as the title says, the whole find on page bar on the bottom is unreadable.. I'm using a darker color palette, so the text on the tabs and so on is white, but I'm guessing the same script changes the color on the find on page bar at the bottom.. and that bar isn't dark, so the text becomes invisible :/
I tried setting firefox to dark theme, and the ctrl+f search bar still works well there :)

Expected behavior

Either the bar follows the theme and becomes dark, or the text stays dark so it's visible on the light bar

Actual behavior

The bar is light, and the text is light

Steps to reproduce

Set the browser to a darker palette, so that the tab text is white, then go to any page and hit the shortcut for find on page, in my case it's ctrl+f, then observe.

I see the same problem when using Find on Page and when using Customize Toolbar in both my Archlinux and Ubuntu systems. Light text on light background makes it unusable.

A temporary fix that works for me: go to about:config and edit browser.theme.toolbar-theme to 0.
Sadly, it resets itself when the browser is closed and reopened.

To me this just manually enables dark or light mode, the readability is still the same..

I had this problem several months ago, and it was caused by forcing some gtk themes in envs iirc, i fixed it that time, but now it's broken again and i can't really figure out why.

For some reason this only happens in dark mode. And it's actually affecting more UI elements, than just search bar. For example zoom percent in address bar uses wrong colors too. And also toolbar editor shares same issue.

Changing browser.theme.toolbar-theme indeed helped as suggested by jvml-pessoal.

I think 0,1,2 corresponds to system,light,dark, but maybe dark and system switched somehow? afaik linux themes not working on zen anyway, so system/auto is always light. Unless there's specific hidden environment variable to change to force zen into thinking that system theme is dark.

Another fix that worked for me was running:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme prefer-dark

I'm not sure if this would affect other distros, but probably worth checking out.

Update: I fixed the issue by adding gtk-application-prefer-dark-theme = true to ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini.
