Setup guide for Pokémon Solus RGB

This guide is for complete beginners who want to learn how to set up and play the Solus RGB romhack.

How to get the game

Download the latest patch (.bps file) for the game from the bottom of this page and save it somewhere on your PC. Make sure you pick the file that corresponds to the version you want to play (Red, Green, or Blue).
Navigate to this online patcher in your browser.
(Select the next instruction based on the version you picked in Step 1.)

For Solus Red or Solus Green ...
In the ROM file field, select your legally-obtained Pokémon Red Version ROM.

For Solus Blue ...
In the ROM file field, select your legally-obtained Pokémon Blue Version ROM.
In the Patch file field, select the .bps file you downloaded in Step 1.
Click Apply patch and save the patched ROM file to your PC. The ROM is ready to play.

There are a few ways to play the game. Here are some common methods, in order of decreasing simplicity.

Emulator. One example is SameBoy for Windows. Others also exist for Android or iOS.
Multi-ROM flash cartridge. One example is EverDrive.
Single-ROM flash cartridge. One example is this one. These will also require a cartridge writing device, like this one.

All of the above options will require the patched ROM file you created.

For the emulator option, open the patched ROM file in your emulator and play it on your computer/mobile device.
For the flash cartridge options, put the patched ROM file onto your cartridge according to its own setup instructions, and play it on a Game Boy.
