Hi there! Yes, if you want GPU virtualization it is only available on Windows Server with Hyper-V's role. You need enterprise grade GPU to use DDA: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/virtualization/hyper-v/deploy/deploying-graphics-devices-using-dda Server SKU has a lot more features but lacks some consumer grade features found in non-Server SKUs too. |

Hi everyone,
I’m thinking modest migration soon and wanted the community’s opinion:
Should I consider moving from Windows 11 Enterprise (my current OS) to Windows Server instead, purely so I can run isolated VMs that host GPU‑accelerated workloads (e.g., AI training, heavy‑duty rendering) while keeping everything on a single PC?
I like Enterprise for security, stability, user interface and Microsoft Store, but the only blocker right now is not having native support for extensive GPU passthrough / Hyper‑V resources needed by those VMs.
Would anyone recommend this path or have experience mixing Windows Server workloads with personal use? Any pitfalls or benefits to watch out for?
Thanks in advance! 🚀
