Web Vitals Dashboard Chart Render Error

Bug description

I have followed the react integration guide on signoz website, enabled support to WebVitals and Confirmed that Frontend is making request to Signoz.

The Issue appears to be when i import WebVitals Dashboard, it does not render any chart or so even though in metrics i am able to see the data is coming through.

Looking at the Query Builder screenshot for the panel, the metric name lcp.bucket has a red squiggly line under it. In SigNoz, this red underline indicates that the query service does not recognize lcp.bucket in its metric registry, which causes the panel data query to fail.

Suggested Troubleshooting Steps :

1. Check Metric Name :

   • Edit the panel query and clear lcp.bucket from the Metrics input field.
   • Check what metric names appear in the auto-complete dropdown (e.g., lcp or web_vitals_lcp).
   • Select the actual metric emitted by your frontend app and click Run Query.

2. Verify Data Ingestion:

   • Go to Metrics Explorer in SigNoz and search for lcp. Ensure metrics are actively populating.

If the issue still persists, could you please share a bit more detail to help us debug ?

1. Browser Network Log: Open Browser DevTools -> Network tab, click Retry on a failing panel, and share the response body of the failed request to /api/v4/query_range (or /api/v1/query).
2. Instrumentation Setup: Are you exporting Web Vitals as OTLP Metrics (e.g., using @opentelemetry/sdk-metrics) or as custom trace spans/events?
3. Deployment: Are you running SigNoz Cloud or Self-Hosted? (If self-hosted, checking signoz-collector logs for metric ingestion errors would also be super helpful).

I can see lcp.bucketas metric in signoz dashboard with data as well refer to below screneshot.

Exporting Web VItals Metrics using using @opentelemetry/sdk-metrics

I looked into this and I believe this is a backend bug, not a
configuration issue on your end.

I traced the query execution path in the codebase — when a
ClickHouse query fails for histogram percentile queries (like P90
on lcp.bucket), the actual error is swallowed and replaced with
a generic "Something went wrong" message . That's why the API
response shows no useful diagnostic info.

Could you share your query-service container logs from around
the time the panel fails ? That would help confirm the underlying
ClickHouse error.

I'd like to pick this up if no one is working on it .

The fix would involve:
1. Logging the actual ClickHouse error at ERROR level
2. Returning a more descriptive error message to the frontend
