unleash-client-java:12.2.2 declares com.google.code.gson:gson:2.13.2 as a regular transitive dependency, so this looks like Gson is not ending up on your runtime classpath.

Could you share a bit more about your setup?

• Your dependency declaration for io.getunleash:unleash-client-java
• Your resolved dependency tree:
  • Maven: mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=io.getunleash:unleash-client-java,com.google.code.gson:gson
  • Gradle: ./gradlew dependencies --configuration runtimeClasspath
• Your Java version: java -version
• How the app is packaged/run: plain JVM, Spring Boot, Micronaut, Quarkus, GraalVM native image, Docker, shaded/fat jar, jlink, ProGuard/R8, etc.
• Whether you have any dependency exclusions, BOM/dependencyManagement overrides, Gradle resolutionStrategy, Shadow plugin minimize(), or Maven Shade filters.
• The full stack trace and launch command if possible.

As a quick check, does explicitly adding com.google.code.gson:gson:2.13.2 to your application dependencies make the error go away?
