Progressive promotion when using promote to downstreams

I need a possibility to perform promotion to multiple downstream stages with a progression (each downstream stage one by one or group by group). There is https://docs.kargo.io/user-guide/patterns#ordered-services, which could work with auto-promotion, but I feel it will not make me happy with:

• cases, where I may need to promote only to specific stages in pipeline (e.g. hotfixes)
• cases, where I may need to continue progression after failure on specific stage
• cases, where I have manual promotion process for specific freights (like complex DB migrations

Are there well-known possibilities to add flexibility to handle such cases and non-standard situations?
