Pearcleaner - Connection Attempts at Startup

Since v 5.42, at startup, Pearcleaner tries to connect to a bunch of different internet sites, such as:

• freemacsoft.net
• stclairesoft.com
• macroplant.com, etc. (as reported via LittleSnitch)

What for? And how do I switch it off?

Please read the release notes for that version. It's mentioned in there and how to turn it off.
It's pre-loading the Updater view with apps that have updates available.

Thanks for the explanation! I must have missed that it in the release notes, so for me it all looked a bit unexpected.
Therefore I'd like to suggest making the 'load app updates on startup' setting OFF by default - otherwise it does look suspicious.
Thank you so much for the app, it's one of the best of its kind!

No worries!

I thought about it, but with it off it breaks that notification badge for updates in the main menu.
The majority of users don't run apps that check for network requests, so this isn't an issue usually.
