Option to customise the overlay

Right now there is no option to customize the overlay. It only contains its default colors which are white and pink. It would be nice if we have an options where we can change the colors for something else or have like a configuration file where we can customize the CSS.

The current overlay is not that visible on the light theme or light background. So, if we have an option to customize, that would be great.

Same need here (Windows 11, 0.9.5, dark surface). Adding the concrete pointers in case they help whoever picks this up.

The accent is a single variable. src/overlay/RecordingOverlay.css has --s-accent: var(--color-logo-primary), which resolves in src/styles/theme.css to #faa2ca (light) and #f28cbb (dark). That one variable paints everything coloured in the overlay:

• .swave i — the waveform bars
• .sdot.ready — the pulsing record dot
• .scaret — the caret in the Live text panel
• .sspinner — border-top-color while transcribing/polishing

So exposing just --s-accent as a setting (or honouring a user CSS file, as suggested above) would cover the whole overlay in one change — the pill surface itself is already --s-surface and theme-driven.

Worth noting for anyone hoping to work around this locally today: you can't. The frontend is embedded in handy.exe and the embedded assets are compressed — neither faa2ca/f28cbb nor the string color-logo-primary appears as literal text in the binary, and there is no CSS/JS/HTML on disk next to the exe. resources/default_settings.json has no theming keys either. The only remaining route is a full rebuild, which on Windows means installing Rust, Bun, CMake, VS C++ Build Tools and the Vulkan SDK just to change one hex value.

That cost asymmetry is really the argument for this feature: a one-line setting upstream replaces a ~10 GB toolchain downstream, repeated on every release.

It would be nice if you can set the colors in a config file in ~/.config/handy/ . For example Omarchy can then style the overlay based on the current theme that is set.
