Licensing, in Plain English

This library is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). The full legal text is in LICENSE; the human-readable summary is at creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0. This page is the practical guide. If this page and the LICENSE ever disagree, the LICENSE wins.

What you can do freely (and are encouraged to)

  • Use any prompt, generator, workshop, investigation, or loop recipe for your own learning and product practice
  • Adapt them — remix, translate, restructure, improve
  • Share them and your adaptations with your team, community, class, or meetup

...as long as you do two things:

  1. Attribute: credit Dean Peters and link back to this repository. One line is fine:

  2. ShareAlike: anything you build from this material and share must carry this same license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

What requires expressed written permission

Any commercial use requires expressed written permission from Dean Peters. That includes, without limitation:

  • Selling this library or any adaptation of it
  • Bundling it into a paid product, app, or service
  • Using it as material for paid training, courses, workshops, or consulting deliverables
  • Repackaging it behind a paywall, login, or lead-capture wall

Wanting to do commercial work with this material is not a problem — it just starts with a conversation. Open an issue on this repository or contact Dean Peters (Productside.com) and ask. Permission, when granted, will be explicit and in writing.

Attribution inside the library

Individual prompts carry their own Attribution field crediting the frameworks and thinkers that inspired them (Porter, Torres, Gothelf, Klein, and others). Those frameworks remain their creators' ideas; the prompt text here is original, clean-room expression by Dean Peters. Keep those attribution fields intact when you adapt a prompt — they are part of the attribution this license requires.

Companion repository

The agent-skills companion, Product-Manager-Skills, carries the same license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) but grants its own, slightly broader plain-language permissions — see its README's License section. Each repository's own guide governs it.

History

Prior to v2.3.0 (July 2026) this repository was distributed under the MIT License. Copies obtained under MIT remain governed by MIT — that grant is irrevocable for what was already distributed. From v2.3.0 forward, this repository and all new versions of its contents are CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
