I recently got a message from a user saying that the data download from a Scenario Explorer using pyam does not work. Upon asking what exactly the error is I received the information that it was:
IXMP4 Client and Server versions do not match. (Client: 0.13.1, Server: 0.16.3)
To me/us it is obvious that the way to resolve this is to update the local ixmp4 version, in this case through updating pyam. To the user though I can see how that might not be obvious at all.
I'd suggest to add something like:
IXMP4 Client and Server versions do not match. (Client: 0.13.1, Server: 0.16.3)
To resolve, please update ixmp4 to the latest version, if you are using pyam, updating that will most likely update ixmp4.
