Oh this is a neat one. When I copy paste the example you've given, I also get an error. But if I type the filter out by hand, it doesn't error!

It turns out that the spaces in (today | overdue) aren't normal spaces, but are non-breaking spaces. When the filter is then encoded and sent to Todoist, it rejects it. Did you copy and paste the filter from the Todoist app somewhere?

The good news is: there's an easy workaround, just type the filter out by hand. I'll also put a fix in the plugin to normalize these special kinds of whitespace before handing it over to Todoist
