The structure was constructed based solely on the assumption that each note supports two other notes, e.g. E supports A and C. (The whole story of how the idea for this structure came about is recorded in my article in pdf format on tonality). In my opinion, the current set of notes ON is an operator that converts the set of twelve notes into a monoid. In this sense, I systematically avoid the concept of major/minor chord triangles. For me, this concept is simply a way of naming spaces that could not exist individually. Just as your front space corresponds to your back space and both are defined by your existence, so major and minor spaces are defined only in relation to a note as its back and front space, respectively (according to the assumed structured directional graph).
(One might be tempted to define and name the right and left spaces of a note as leading tone spaces, but it is difficult to achieve consistency without ambiguity.)
