Plain-English summary (not a substitute for the license):
You may read, run, and evaluate this code. You may not rebrand it, resell it, host it as a service, or ship derivatives publicly without explicit written permission. Attribution is mandatory. The marks and names are protected.

1) Definitions

  1. “Software” means the source code, documentation, and any included assets in this repository, including modifications made by the Licensor.
  2. “Use” means to run, execute, compile, or otherwise operate the Software for internal purposes.
  3. “Evaluation” means Use for testing, learning, security review, and compatibility verification without providing it to third parties as a product or service.
  4. “Commercial Use” means any Use that directly or indirectly generates revenue, supports a paid product/service, or is used in a business process beyond Evaluation.
  5. “Hosted Service” means offering the Software (or substantially similar functionality) to users over a network (SaaS, API-as-a-service, managed hosting, “free tier” included).
  6. “Redistribution” means sharing the Software (source or binary) with any third party, publicly or privately.
  7. “Derivative Work” means any modified version of the Software or any work based on the Software, including partial reuse of its core algorithms, data models, or protocol flows.
  8. “Marks” means names, titles, and identifiers associated with the Software and the Licensor, including GlyphStream™, LAH-MAH-TOR, Kai-Klok / KKS, Kai Rex Klok (K℞K), Φ / PhiNet, and associated logos/visual marks.

2) Grant of Rights (Limited)

Subject to full compliance with this License, the Licensor grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

  • (a) View and study the Software.
  • (b) Run and test the Software for Evaluation and internal research.
  • (c) Modify the Software only for private/internal Evaluation, provided you do not Redistribute or offer a Hosted Service.

No other rights are granted.

3) Restrictions (What You May NOT Do Without Written Permission)

Unless you have explicit written permission from the Licensor, you may not:

  1. Redistribute the Software or any portion of it (source or binary), publicly or privately.
  2. Offer a Hosted Service using the Software or any substantially similar implementation of its core behavior.
  3. Commercial Use the Software, including embedding it into a paid product, internal business offering, or revenue-generating workflow.
  4. Release Derivative Works publicly (including open source publication, public repos, packages, templates, or SDKs).
  5. Rebrand the Software or imply authorship, origin, endorsement, or affiliation.
  6. Remove or alter attribution, provenance, copyright notices, trademarks, or the NOTICE file.
  7. Patent-wrap / claim exclusivity over the Software or its core methods, or use it to file patents that restrict the Licensor or the public from the Licensor’s authored design.
  8. Use the Marks in product names, marketing, domains, or logos, except for nominative reference (see Section 6).

4) Required Attribution (Mandatory)

If you reference, discuss, benchmark, or demonstrate the Software (including screenshots, blog posts, talks, videos, or papers), you must provide clear credit:

“BJ Klock (Kai Rex Klok, K℞K) — Author of GlyphStream™ / LAH-MAH-TOR Sync Core.”

Attribution must be visible in the primary description area (README, docs, video description, conference slide, etc.) and must not be hidden or minimized.

5) Provenance Integrity / No Confusion

You must not take actions that create confusion about the origin of the Software, including:

  • claiming it is “community developed” when it is authored by the Licensor,
  • presenting it as your own original system,
  • presenting modified behavior as canonical behavior of GlyphStream™ / LAH-MAH-TOR without stating it is a modification.

6) Trademarks / Marks (Strict)

  1. No trademark license granted. This License does not grant rights to use the Marks beyond nominative reference.
  2. Nominative reference allowed only to truthfully identify the Software (e.g., “Compatible with GlyphStream™ (BJ Klock)”), provided it does not imply endorsement.
  3. Prohibited uses include using Marks in: product names, company names, domains, subdomains, app titles, marketing headlines, or logos, without written permission.

7) Security & Abuse Prohibition

You may not use the Software to enable or support:

  • impersonation, fraud, identity theft, or deceptive provenance claims,
  • malicious scraping or exploitation,
  • any activity that misrepresents authorship, timestamps, seals, pulses, or witness chains as if they originated from the Licensor’s system when they did not.

8) Contributions

Unless the Licensor agrees otherwise in writing:

  • Any contributions (PRs, patches, suggestions, or code) you submit may be accepted or rejected at the Licensor’s discretion.
  • If accepted, you grant the Licensor the right to use, modify, and relicense your contribution as part of the Software without additional compensation.

9) Termination

This License is automatically terminated if you violate any condition in Sections 3–7.

Upon termination, you must:

  • stop all Use,
  • delete all copies of the Software and Derivative Works in your possession or control,
  • cease all references that imply continuing rights.

Sections 4–12 survive termination.

10) No Warranty

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NONINFRINGEMENT, OR SECURITY.

You assume all risk arising from Use of the Software.

11) Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE LICENSOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR SECURITY INCIDENTS.

12) Commercial Licensing / Permissions

If you want any of the following:

  • redistribution rights,
  • Hosted Service rights,
  • Commercial Use rights,
  • permission to publish Derivative Works,
  • permission to use the Marks beyond nominative reference,

you must obtain a separate written license from the Licensor.

13) Governing Terms

If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
This License constitutes the complete terms for access to the Software unless superseded by a written agreement signed by the Licensor.

14) How to Comply (Checklist)

  • ✅ Keep NOTICE and this LICENSE.md intact
  • ✅ Credit BJ Klock (Kai Rex Klok, K℞K) in any public reference
  • ✅ Use only for private Evaluation unless you have written permission
  • ❌ Do not host, resell, redistribute, or publish derivatives
  • ❌ Do not use “GlyphStream™” or related Marks as your branding
