How to edit files in /etc

To connect to a Raspberry Pi, you don't have the possibility to login as root. If you are logged in as a user, you can change to root with sudo su.
But what is with file manager? If I select a file there i.e. fstab and edit, I cannot save this file, because I am logged in as user.
Is there any possibility to change to root?

This is expected behavior. You have to use nano or vi on the commandline.

This was not my question. It may be the expected behavior. But this behavior is annoying.
Vi is completely unusable, it reminds me to edlin, the line editor from DOS in the 1980s.
Nano is usable, but far away from the features I expect from an intuitive editor.

The intuitive way for me is selecting a file with file explorer and edit it with a graphical editor.
If this does not work with file manager (for any reason) I will use the GUI with VNC.

This leads me to a new feature request: Open a VNC viewer with the address of the selected server.
This could also be a favorite button configurable to start any program.

VNC viewer is planned. Also I'll look into adding an "edit as root" feature to file manager.
