[Bug] Unable to set default currency

Describe the bug
When adding an expense, it always defaults to USD. Both my personal account (default currency), and the group default is JPY. If i log out (or close browser), it reverts back to USD. Occurs on mobile and PC.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Open expense
2. Change from USD to JPY
3. Add a cost, press ok.
4. Create a new expense. Stays as JPY
5. Close window (or log out).
6. Create a new expense - reverts to USD.

Expected behavior
If the Group and the user have default JPY, creating an expense (either direct, or in group) i would expect it to default as JPY

Additional context
important note:

• This is hosted on a raspberry pi 3b using docker.
• The login/invite has been disabled.
• I'm not super tech savvy, but have wiped the sd card several times, reproduced each time.
• As i got a bit frustrated, i've used AI for assistance, which has probably made things worse (trying to force JPY settings in the environment/back end). So will need to wipe it all again. However i think this is a bug, as i wouldnt have tried to force

Ah, this is expected behaviour. Before 2.1.0 there was a last used currency setting tied to the account, so that once you set a currency, it is saved and applied on adding new expenses. The default currency settings were added on top of that to be the default for displayed balances and to apply currency conversions. I did not want to break existing functionality, but I can add some descriptions to these settings to avoid confusion.

Hello! I understand, but sadly the functionality still seems to be broken. Before the 2.1.0 update, I added an expense in a group in CAD instead of USD and the next expense would always have CAD already selected by default. Now it always goes back to USD whenever I come back to splitpro to add a new expense.

I have everything set as CAD as the default balance currency. I also always manually select the expense to be in CAD, but whenever I want to add a new expense later, the Add Expense screen appears with the currency USD selected. It should stay in CAD right? I remember that is how it worked before.

Yeah, but see my order of operations.

1. (account+group are in JPY).
2. I added an expense in JPY,
3. Create a new expense - it's displayed in JPY
4. close the window,
5. create a new expense. - It always changes to USD.

the thing is, i'd never use USD (i'm from australia).

If there is a default somewhere?

btw, i'm happy with the status quo "A owes me 20,000 JPY, and $500 AUD"

I have the same problem. I set the default currency to EUR, but every new expense is USD...

For whatever it is worth, I'd want to set a default currency CAD across the board, and/or just disable the entire currency system to avoid mistakes.

Even when I have a non-CAD transaction, setting the currency would be informational only, it is extremely unlikely that split-pro will guess the actual amount paid at the correct minute that the transaction settled on my credit card.
