is it possible to do Slam With one type of camera, and localization with another type?

I want to do the SLAM phase with a 360 camera (THETA v), Images equirectangular, and the localization phase, with images taken by a smartphone, is it possible?

Apologies for the late reply.

Theoretically yes, by just localizing using a different camera model in the settings when starting a new slam session. Though in moncular 360 mapping, I'm not sure how well VSLAM does when comparing that against perspectice cameras.

I'm keen to hear how it works, as I have a similar use case that would be useful for.
