The model version in the ./spack.yaml has not been updated.
You can update it manually.

🚀 Attempted to deploy access-om3 Prerelease pr176-1 with commit 6c9717f

🖥️ Gadi Deployment ✔️

Usage Instructions

access-om3, defined in ./spack.yaml, will be deployed to Gadi as:

  • 2025.08.001 as a Release (when merged).
  • pr176-1 as a Prerelease (during this PR).

This Prerelease is accessible on Gadi using:

module use /g/data/vk83/prerelease/modules
module load access-om3/pr176-1

When using the above modules, the binaries shall be on your $PATH.

For advanced users, this Prerelease is also accessible on Gadi via /g/data/vk83/prerelease/apps/spack/0.22/spack in the access-om3-pr176-1 environment.
Due to inode-saving measures, one will have to manually untar the environment metadata before environment activation with tar -xf .spack-env .spack-env.tar. It will require one to have write privileges.

Configuration Information

This Prerelease is deployed using:

If the above was not what was expected, commit changes to config/versions.json in this PR.

Should be faster now @chrisb13, it's found the already built esmf :

[+] covllzb ^esmf@8.7.0%oneapi@2025.2.0 cflags='-mtune=sapphirerapids -unroll -march=sapphirerapids' cxxflags='-mtune=sapphirerapids -march=sapphirerapids -unroll' fflags='-mtune=sapphirerapids -march=sapphirerapids -unroll' ~debug~external-lapack+external-parallelio+mpi+netcdf~pnetcdf+shared~xerces build_system=makefile esmf_comm=auto esmf_os=auto esmf_pio=auto patches=f63d405 snapshot=none arch=linux-rocky8-x86_64_v4

It re-uses '`covllzb' for builds in this PR (note that hash only exists in this PR) - to do this in a different PR use the hash from an esmf build in that PR.

Needed to update acccess-spack-packages to a newer version to accommodate generic-tracers `2025.09.000` (this build failed https://github.com/ACCESS-NRI/ACCESS-OM3/actions/runs/20904149711/job/60054678559)

Thanks @anton-seaice, I think it's now faster, about ~30 minutes (even with just your change). Is that expected?

Sounds plausible - depends how far down the dependency chain the change is. e.g. if the only change is to access3 (which has no dependents) then its fast, if the change is to openmpi then its very slow (which has many dependents)

Ok but with your recent change, which only changed the source for esmf isn't it effectively no change? As in, everything is already built so is it taking 30 minutes to basically determine that nothing is needed?

Rolling back mom6 version for the time being whilst we check that the latest `access3-share` works (`rc-2026.01.000`). This uses the forks version of CMEPS, CDEPS and CESM_share as well as the updated patches/files from here: ACCESS-NRI/access3-share#22 (comment)

Anton has done a force push of the branch `rc-2026.01.000`, and comments (see above link) that each commit builds. Seeing if it also builds in om3 (could attempt a repro test if applicable).
