Today, I will present an analysis that investigates the temporal evolution of response strength for different oddball stimuli. It highlights that there are potentially minute-long effects of synaptic depletion that systematically bias results that investigate ROI plasticity. This analysis also reveals that those units that are initially active undergo depression during the oddball block, e.g., due to synaptic depletion, whereas units that become active during the experiment show long-term potentiation and more pronounced enhancement for the 90° deviant.
