Assets

Databases are the highest level node on the asset hierarchy. Locations are normally children of databases. Assets are children of locations or parent assets.

Databases are useful for controlling access. For example you might want to segment your assets based on geographical sites.

Locations are the locations of assets. This can have a GPS coordinate. It is common to have children locations.

Assets are under locations. Assets commonly have children assets. This is useful for collecting data for Reliability Block Diagrams.

Assets can be classified according to their type. This is useful for collecting aggregate data on different types of assets.
