I think it would be nice if there was the option for people to clone the repo then automagically start a notebook locally with everything installed and ready to go. The run_notebook.sh script is adapted from one I stole from the OpenFF guys that seems to fit the bill.
I've tested it locally and it seems to work, but an independent check is needed. -can you give it a go?
