Happy New Year, ESCS Community!

We’re glad to be back for the first release of 2026. For January, we’re rounding up a few updates from the forum since the holidays, upcoming events in the sustainable computing space, and key deadlines to look out for in funding, opportunities, and conferences like SC4RC.

If you hear about exciting news, events, or resources for this space, we want to hear from our community! We encourage you to post about it on the ESCS Forum. And as always, any feedback or suggestions to make this newsletter and the forum better are always welcome.

### Help us grow the ESCS Community with others working on sustainable computing! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

If you haven’t already joined, the [ESCS Forum](https://forum.escs-community.org/categories) is a great place to connect with others, whether you’re new to the space or have been in this domain for years. If you know of anyone looking for a community in this domain, feel free to invite them to the forum and forward this release. Our Community Manager, Anica, highlights new posts in this monthly newsletter. Yours might get featured in the next one!

🌱 ***What is this newsletter?*** *This aims to be a round up of interesting news and developments in the sustainable computing space. Whenever we come across an interesting news item or publication on the topic, we will post it on the forum so that everyone can jump in and discuss it. Of course anyone’s welcome to post as well! At the end of each month, we will send out this monthly digest of the articles shared and of the discussions that happened on the forum.*

🌱 ***Who is behind the forum and this monthly digest?*** *This project is led by [Loïc Lannelongue](https://www.lannelongue-group.org/members/Loic-Lannelongue.html) at the University of Cambridge and supported by the Wellcome Trust (among others). [Anica Araneta](https://www.lannelongue-group.org/members/Anica-Araneta.html) is in charge of day-to-day community management. Any questions about that? [Just get in touch](contact@escs-community.org)!*
