My name is Deniz! I’m currently a Software Engineer at Mercury - check us out if you’re a startup or business. I first started at Mercury as an intern in summer 2025 and got really interested in observability and performance work. If you’re curious about that type of engineering work, here’s a small preview blog about the types of N+1 problems my manager and I worked on that summer.
Recently, I also spent a semester abroad at Sorbonne Université in Paris, where I took graduate courses in machine learning, quantum physics, and bioinformatics (I’m planning to post a few of the projects I worked on here soon). I also maximized the rest of my time traveling, meeting new people, and improving my French. If you're passionate about any of this kind of stuff, hit me up, I love chatting about it.
I’m also a huge advocate of hackathons. A few years ago, I helped restart and lead my university’s hackathon, uOttaHack. I wrote a short blog post about that experience and how pushed me to grow as a builder, leader, and aspiring founder.
Feel free to connect and check out my website/github. It’s my small contribution to the world wide web :)
