E-SOH

E-SOH serves as both an interface and an Application Programming Interface (API) designed to facilitate access to meteorological datasets identified as High Value Datasets (HVD) by the EU Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/138, in accordance with the EU Open Data Directive (EU) 2019/1024.

E-SOH promotes collaboration between data providers and users, thereby improving awareness of available technical solutions for sharing and accessing HVD datasets. The platform offers a sustainable and standardised framework for distributing real-time surface weather observations, aligning with both the HVD regulation and the WMO WIS 2.0 strategy. Real-time surface weather data are accessible via open web services, ensuring broad public availability.

Near real-time observational data

E-SOH is a component of the RODEO project, which aims to make nearly real-time weather observations from land-based stations easily accessible. The data will be distributed via both a message queue using MQTT and through EDR-compliant APIs. Additionally, metadata will be provided through OGC Records APIs. The system's architecture is designed to be portable, scalable, and modular, allowing for future expansion to incorporate new networks and datasets, such as third-party surface observations.
