this means, that I can add tests to RQADeforestation where I can assume that it runs on the EODC VMs and the path are right. Then I am going to add some tests for gdalcube next week.
Can we somehow check that this is actually running on EODC VMs as CI so that we can hide this behind some argument and be able to run other tests locally as well?

Yes, current github actions workflows runs on the self-hosted runner at eodc.
To enable local testing as well, we can split runtests.jl to files runtests.jl and runtests-eodc.jl and run additional eodc tests in a new CI job.
