Fortnite Central

Fortnite Central Bot Logo

Fortnite Central was a Service & Discord bot built to automatically deliver Fortnite data updates directly into Discord servers, and provide REST API access to formatted data from game files and other sources.

A word from the maintainer

Hi there! I'm Garrett, you might know me as GMatrixGames from datamining Fortnite from late 2019 to late 2024.

Although it's a bit of a mess, I tried to clean up the Fortnite Central codebase before stepping away. I didn't want to let something I spent years maintaining just go to waste. Maybe one of you will find a use for it!

It's been an incredible ride. I genuinely appreciate all the support over the years for my posts and for Fortnite Central. What started as a Java learning project, just proxying updates from NiteStats, slowly grew into something much bigger. Fortnite Central even became a core part of the datamining community, providing AES keys and mappings to thousands of FModel users after BenBot shut down.

But as they say, some things have to end for others to begin. Even though I was unbanned midway through last year, being away for so long meant I no longer really had a place in the community. And that's okay.

This isn't goodbye, though. I've since graduated with a degree in Game Development, and with everything I've learned from these experiences over the years, you might just spot my name in the credits of your next favorite game someday.

I still hop onto Fortnite now and then when I'm bored, and I'm always down for some Rocket League, so I'll never be truly gone.

I've met so many amazing people I never would have crossed paths with otherwise, and I can't thank them enough. There are too many to name here, but you know who you are.

And to the Epic Games employees who didn't shy away from conversation, Joe, Evan, Jeff, Riley, Tim, thank you. Your help and kindness, especially when it wasn't deserved, meant more than you know. 1

And to all the Epic employees who, whether you realized it or not, gave me one of the biggest reasons I wanted to become a game developer in the first place, thank you.

Footnotes

  1. After writing this but prior to publication, Epic Games laid off over 1,000 employees, including some mentioned here (Evan and Riley, namely). Although I do feel that Tim most likely was not directly involved in the decision of who to lay off, many clearly misguided business decisions and mis-allocated funds led to this occurrence, and although it is probably petty, Tim's name has been struck through on this list.
