Isn't music supposed to be linked to the board itself, and not the background? I intentionally didn't include music in the background zip because it was already included in the music zip. In the background.yml file, I simply set the background music for that background to a vanilla track. I assume that would act as a sort-of "placeholder" if the background was downloaded on its own, and that the music would be replaced by the board's music zip, not the background zip. Is this not the case?

Yes, that is correct. However there's not really any reason to upload two zips instead of one if the background is being made with a specific board in mind, so we ask people to include the music in the background zip instead.
