if the log file is not correct formatted the log is flooded with php.ERROR: Warning: Undefined array key "message"...

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved log line parsing to ensure only successfully matched lines are processed, resulting in more accurate log detail extraction and better handling of non-matching lines.

Couldn't we just use the null coalescing operator?

$matches['message'] ?? 'unknown'

That way we could also Check for unknown Channel and other issues.

But this never happen. Either the array contains all results, or it is empty. But what do think about checking the preg_match results with 1 to check if it is succeeded?

Walkthrough

The logic in LogController.php was updated to refine how log lines are processed with preg_match. The condition now explicitly checks for successful matches by comparing the result to 1, ensuring only valid matches are processed while all other cases are handled as unknown.

Changes

File(s) Change Summary
src/Controller/LogController.php Updated the regex match condition to check for result not equal to 1 instead of strictly false, ensuring only successful matches are processed and others are handled as unknown.

Poem

In the logs, I hop and peer,
Seeking matches, far and near.
Now I check for "one" with care—
Only true matches make me stare!
Unknown lines, I let them be,
For clarity in logs is key.

55-55: Excellent fix for the undefined array key warning.

This change correctly addresses the issue by modifying the condition to check specifically for successful regex matches (return value 1). The previous condition was likely only checking for regex errors (=== false), but wasn't handling the case where the pattern simply didn't match (return value 0).

This approach is more robust than using the null coalescing operator as discussed in the PR comments, as it ensures consistency by treating the entire line as invalid when the pattern doesn't match, rather than just handling a missing "message" key.
