This document defines the **Controls & Actuation** subsystem for ATA 73, covering the FADEC baseline, control laws, and actuated elements.

# 3. Architecture Baseline

## 3.1 FADEC Hardware
- **Channels:** A / B, independent power & IO.
- **Power:** Dual feeds (ATA 24) + ride-through ⟨200 ms⟩ (covers AFDX failover/brownout).

## 3.2 FADEC Software & Partitioning
- **OS:** ARINC 653 compliant RTOS.
- **Partitions:** P1(DAL A) Protections, P2(DAL B) Transitions, P3(DAL C) Health Monitoring, P4(DAL D) Maintenance.

## 3.3 Networks & Buses
- **AFDX (ARINC 664 P7):** Dual-homed NIC. Virtual Links defined in **ICD-73-ICL-001**.
- **ARINC 429:** Legacy/fallback bus.

# 4. Control Laws & Protections

## 4.1 Thrust Scheduling
- **Inputs:** TLA, ambient conditions, engine parameters, **BLI gain correction**.
- **Command:** **EPR/N1** schedule mapped to **FMV-H₂ / FMV-SAF** fuel flow.

## 4.2 Protection Functions (DAL A)
- **Surge Margin Guard:** ΔSM ≥ ⟨4%⟩.
- **EGT Thermal Limit:** Rate and absolute clamps.
- **Rotor Overspeed:** Staged fuel cutback and hard trips.
- **H₂ Safety Interlocks:** Inhibit GH₂ admission based on leak, pressure, and pre-chill status.

## 4.3 Hybrid Transition Executor (DAL B)
Implements the state machine from OV-E §2.3, with reversion to SAF in ≤ ⟨5 s⟩ on L1 fault.

## 4.4 Start & Relight Control
All start and relight sequences are commanded on SAF only within the certified envelope (**⟨250–400 kt⟩ / ⟨FL100–FL300⟩**).

# 5. Actuated Elements
The FADEC commands and monitors VSV, VBV (if fitted), FMV-H₂, FMV-SAF, Transition Valves, HPSOV/SOV, and the HX Bypass. All elements are enumerated in **ICD-73-10-ACT-002**.

# 6. Health Monitoring & Degradation
BIT/BITE routines and fault classification are defined. Single-channel operations result in degradations **annunciated via CAS to CMS per MMEL**.
