Summary of Changes
Hello @Guiners, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!
I've added several new samples demonstrating the use of various Generative AI tools within the genai module. These samples showcase capabilities such as code execution, function definition, Google Search integration, and Vertex AI Search (VAIS) with text inputs. The goal is to provide clear, runnable examples for developers to understand and utilize these powerful AI features.
Highlights
- New Generative AI Tool Samples: Introduced new samples for Generative AI tools, expanding the genai module's capabilities.
- Code Execution with Image Sample: Added a tools-code-exec-with-txt-local-img sample, demonstrating code execution with both text prompts and local image inputs.
- Function Definition Sample: Included a tools-func-def-with-txt sample, illustrating how to define and use custom functions with text-based interactions.
- Google Search Integration Sample: Provided a tools-google-search-with-txt sample, showcasing integration with Google Search for answering queries.
- Vertex AI Search (VAIS) Sample: Added a tools-vais-with-txt sample, demonstrating the use of Vertex AI Search for retrieval-augmented generation.
- Model and Test Updates: Updated existing tools-code-exec-with-txt and tools-func-desc-with-txt samples to use the latest gemini-2.5-flash model and adjusted test timeouts for stability.

Code Review
This pull request adds several new GenAI tools samples and their corresponding tests. The changes are generally good, but there are a few issues to address. There's a critical issue with a sample marked as "not working". Another sample has a bug where it uses an environment variable instead of a function parameter. Several tests have incorrect assertions or use async
on describe
blocks unnecessarily. I've provided specific comments and suggestions to fix these issues.
