Using ImageMagick, I converted png and jpeg files to webp. I was tempted to go for avif; but, incompatibility really scares me.
Webp is, as a now, a risk in terms on compability in older and/or unmantained clients. Sorry, legacy systems.
And then clean up changes, and update images' path in relevant files.
