I didn't do a sync last week because some more urgent things came up. So there's a bit more to review in this one.
In particular I want to call attention to 30e31c6 as that required some adaption of the code to this repo. @dawsontoth especially, but anyone else too, does this seem like the correct way to accomplish the spirit of that commit in this repo?
