Do note that all versions come with .NET embedded, which means you do not need to install any .NET runtime for this. It also does mean, that it will always use this exact same .NET version, even if your OS has a newer version. Most versions uses the newest available LTS (Long-Term Support) at time of release, but the Windows x86 is self-contained with .NET6 to be able to support older versions like Windows 7.
You only need to install the Classic Repair Toolbox application once, and thereafter you can update directly from inside the application.

2026-February-21
- Application
- Fixed component information popup did not show all information #60
- Added an experimental auto-installer
- Refactored minor part on zooming in
- Last version did not proper fix this, nor am I sure this will, so will probably need to address this again in a future version
Tip
The "auto-installer" is a new functionality that will show in the "About" tab, when a new version is available. With this you can easily and automatically update the application executable, without the need to manually download the entire new ZIP package. It has been tested in both Windows 10 and Linux with Wine and Mono, but please do report any issues with it. Do note that it will also fetch new data from the online source, as the data files could be updated also. No reported issues equals this must be working fine ;-)

If you also have data updates, and want to contribute, then please connect with me, as ideally we can together enhance the data quality to the benefit for many.

Important
Due to folder restructuring, the older releases from 2025-August-2 and backwards will fetch all files again (if you choose to update from online source), and place the folders in same level as the executable file. As such this will still work fine, but it will be a little messy with duplicate data, so if you do not have a lot of custom data, then I recommend to fetch a complete new copy from GitHub, as this is the easiest way for clean-up.
