This is the analytical code in R for the manuscript "Climate hazards and water insecurity, by geographic and economic vulnerabilities". This code enables the production of the graphs and and the results presented in tables within the manuscript. The code is annotated to support reproducibility. The names of csv files and working directories will need to be adjusted by the user to suit their system.

The data on climate hazards that was used for this analysis is publicly available at www.emdat.be and www.climateengine.org. The data on subnational wealth is available at https://globaldatalab.org/wealth/. The maps used to identify climate zone are available at https://www.nature.com/articles/sdata2018214. The individual data on water insecurity and other covariates can be requested at wisescales.org, due to the sensitive nature of the data.

A demo dataset (in which all the data has been already merged) has been uploaded for the purpose of being able to check the functionality of the code. Please note that this dataset is NOT the full real data used for the paper.
It contains only 500 observations (the full dataset has 36,342 in the final sample), so the same results will not be found when running this analysis.

All analyses were run in R v4.3.1 and checked in R 4.5.2. R and Rstudio are open access and can be downloaded within 10 minutes. Code run time <10 mins
