Jody-Todd/README.md

Hi there, I'm Jody Todd! 👋

4th Year Bioengineering PhD Candidate @ Georgia Tech conducting research in the Computational Neuroimaging and Neuroscience Lab @ Emory University.

I am researching magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods to assess cerebrovascular contributions to Alzheimer's Disease. My work focuses on building data processing pipelines to quantify cerebrovascular biomarkers, developing novel MRI pulse sequences to measure these biomarkers, and using these biomarkers to improve our understanding of Alzheimer's.

Languages & Tools

  • Neuroimaging Suites: AFNI, SPM, FSL
  • Pipeline Development: Python, MATLAB, R, Bash
  • Analysis: Statistical modeling, machine learning for biomarker association

Projects

1. Image Processing Pipeline Development

I build processing workflows to obtain cerebrovascular biomarkers from MRI data.

  • Goal: Develop robust pipelines that process neuroimages and compute cerebral blood flow (CBF) and cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR). See my M2-PCASL-CBF and M2-PCASL-CVR repos.
  • Tech: Python, MATLAB, Bash, R

2. Analysis of Alzheimer's Disease biomarkers

I use statistical methods to study the relationships among Alzheimer's Disease biomarkers including amyloid beta, tau, age, CBF, and CVR.

  • Goal: Uncover associations between traditional Alzheimer's Disease biomarkers and understudied cerebrovascular biomarkers to better understand the complex pathophysiology of Alzheimer's Disease.
  • Tech: Jupyter Notebook, Python, MATLAB, Bash, R

3 MRI Pulse Sequence Development

I am currently developing a novel MRI pulse sequence using the open-source framework Pulseq.

  • Goal: Measure blood-brain barrier permeability—an understudied biomarker for Alzheimer's Disease.
  • Tech: Pulseq using MATLAB for deployment on a 7T MRI system
