Update of the juliagpu.org home page, both adding content, reorganizing things, and updating dependencies:

  • Add showcases
  • Add more back-ends, group in submenu
  • Switch to Bootstrap 5
  • Switch to CDN-provided resources

I feel like the newly-added showcases section is a bit boring (code-heavy) though, so I'd appreciate if people could suggest some content for things to be featured, e.g., a link to a paper, an impressive performance chart or nice visual, some impressive characteristics compared to software counterparts, etc. @glwagner @luraess @omlins @vchuravy @kshyatt @amontoison @jpsamaroo @DhairyaLGandhi @ChrisRackauckas @ViralBShah

Here's a figure generated by @simone-silvestri's work on Oceananigans in global configurations:

image

this was published as part of a Gordon Bell effort in 2023: https://www.navidconstantinou.com/publications/oceananigans-scalings.pdf

That work was eventually published as a long-form paper in the Journal for Advances in Modeling Earth Systems: https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1029/2024MS004465 (it was also highlighted in EOS, which is an honor, in a commentary written by prominent scientists at modeling centers in Europe and the US: https://eos.org/editor-highlights/a-leap-toward-next-generation-ocean-models).

There are some nice scaling plots in the JAMES paper:

and others. Also visualizations:

We can generate additional figures easily, and we are overdue for an update on the scaling results, not least since some recent significant performance gains.

Let's merge this. If anybody else wants to add a showcase, open an issue with some details (preferably some nice images/plots).
