"Legacy installation of Background has been detected" persists even after following migration instructions

Issue

I followed the steps described in the migration here multiple times in a row now and I still get the error on startup.

How to replicate

1. Update to v6
2. Observe error message
3. Follow Rollback guide here
4. Restart VS Code
5. Observe error message

Please reinstall VSCode as the migration option instead, I haven't been able to replicate this issue yet so I'll need to investigate further.

Reinstalling isn't possible for me right now, I have another extension installed that I can't get back if I uninstall. Thanks anyway.

For the migration can you confirm that you ran the uninstall background command/button and not uninstalled the extension, I think there was some confusion surrounding that step of the migration

That was definitely confusing me, so now I am using the Background Uninstall command and I get the error that 5.0.3 shows but the Background tray thing shows a spinner forever and the uninstall never completes. I have run uninstall (the Background command, not uninstalling the extension), waited 10 minutes, then restarted VS Code and the background is still there when it starts up.

The spinning is a visual bug, since the popup showed up it did uninstall. So if you update now it show no longer show the legacy error. My guess is that the background was still showing cause the new install had ran at some point.
