I am not a physicist and prior to 2022 had very little knowledge on quantum mechanics beyond pop science. The list of books below really helped me start my journey. Also, IBM have wonderful documentation on the topic not to mention brilliant tools and a python library Qiskit for coding quantum algorithms and running them on simulators and real hardware. The applied route provided by libraries such as Qiskit and Cirq and the documentation explaining the theory make the topic accessible.
