What is OverBuddy

OverBuddy is a free, open source Windows app for customizing your Overwatch™ main menu. Whether you're a Doomfist main who wants Tropical Doomfist back, still can't get over your crush on Cupid Hanzo, or you just miss the look and sound of the last collaboration event... OverBuddy has you covered.

Note: Because of the New Menu experience introduced in Season 1: Conquest, using a custom background will hide the dynamic feed and links to new Event, Shop, and Lore content.

OverBuddy works seamlessly with both Battle.net® and Steam® installations of Overwatch™ on Windows.

Personalize your Experience

Browse all available Overwatch main menu backgrounds and apply your favourite to see it in game the next time you play.

Built with Privacy in Mind

To change the menu background, OverBuddy updates your Battle.net® and/or Steam® configuration files. It does NOT modify any game files and does NOT collect your personal data. Changes are applied after OverBuddy automatically restarts your Battle.net and/or Steam client.

You don't have to take my word for it! The source code is openly available for anyone, including you, to review and contribute to. The app you install is built via an automated build pipeline that you can find here.

One-Click Revert

Change your mind? Click the Revert to Default button at any time to remove all customizations.

Debug Console

OverBuddy can enable the Overwatch debug console, accessible in-game using the Alt + ~ hotkey.

Continuous Updates

OverBuddy is updated regularly to ensure all backgrounds are still available after new Overwatch patches.

Getting Started

Installation

1. Download the latest version of OverBuddy.
2. Run the Installer. If you see a warning about the app being unsigned, click "More info" and then "Run anyway".

Using OverBuddy

1. Launch OverBuddy and follow the setup instructions.

2. Confirm the platform(s) you use to play Overwatch.

3. Browse all available backgrounds. You can move between them using your arrow (← and →) or the A and D keys.

4. Once you find your favourite background, click the Apply button to see it in-game.

5. Explore the Settings for additional options.
